K9 Conditioning Part 2

Side Sit Ups

Nice job with the side sit ups - you both look comfortable on the floor. Did you teach her to lie flat or did she just do it while she was tired?
at .47 - you can even work on her stretching a little further - that can be a goal . But these are really nice - she is keeping that lower forelimb on the floor, and that is great.

Our first attempt at Side Sit Ups

So, in .07, hold onto her left front leg with your right hand - so that she will not push up with the left. You started to do this at .25. Try to get her to left the head up towards the right hip.
Better on the other side at .35. Keep asking her to reach a little further on down the trunk.
This is a really great start Lynn - and you both have the foundation for it. Practice - but do not over do it!

Hold on to the leg underneath so she does not use the leg to push up. So, the leg that is directly on the floor - hold on to that at the elbow.

The bird dog and the advanced can be done every day - for about 10 reps, if that works for you and the dog. For the side sit ups - start with 5 to 10, one time per day.

When giving her the treat - bring it to the mid of her body instead of over her head. So she is doing a pure side movement, rather than a backwards movement.
So, just hold it in the middle of her rib cage so she will lift up to the side - she should not look at you.
Does that makes sense?

Cavaletti exercise:

First video the bars are 1.5 body length apart.

In this video the bars are roughly twice Lily's body length apart.
