Shaping STAND

In teaching STAND, I deviated from Steps. I taught Lily to STAND by luring her forward. I tried luring her the way Sue described, but was unsuccessful. So I decided to do it "my way" ... the "old" way.

This served me well until we reached Level 4: Dog STANDS from a SIT from 10' away.

At this point, Lily would stand from the distance, but would consistently stand and take a few steps forward. Sue told me to re-teach the behavior by shaping her to step backwards.

Lily is really working hard as we add the distance.

After re-teaching STAND, I became a "true believer" and haven't deviated since.
